There are two options for these printers. The chipped version has the chip provided with the cartridge. When you use the un-chipped version you must take the chip from your old cartridge, reset it and insert it in the new cartridge.
The un-chipped version is being phased out. We have only a few cartridges left. The starter kits that are needed the first time you purchase the un-chipped cartridges are no longer available. New customers can only buy the chipped cartridges.
